Fertilizer
About our fertilizerHere at Miller Agronomy the history of improving farmer profitability has lots of connections to fertilizer. As a certified nutrient management professional seeing the potential for better yields and profitability is what my training provides. With the amount of money going through your crop budget for fertilizer being third behind seed and land costs, along with the fact that besides weather the biggest yield factor for corn is Nitrogen management, the connection between fertilizer and crop profits is often number 1. Knowing the details of a high yielding strategy for fertilizers and using the best information for rates, timings, and product choices is just as crucial as the access to lowest priced product. With Titan Pro fertilizers and 360 YieldCenter mindset we build high yielding strategies and have good input prices at the same time. We are not the cheapest every time, but we will get your cost/bu the lowest, and earn your trust along the way.

Consider this:If you utilize the FINBIN website to compare your farming results to others you can see that the most profitable farms in southern MN for 2015, (top 20%), had a cost of production on corn of $3.16 vs the average producer had $3.75. The largest contributing factors were higher yields and lower fertilizer costs. How can this be? The answer is management (using the 4R approach) before spending any dollars. The process of fine tuning our nutrient management plans is an ongoing challenge to maximize yields while maintaining soils and profitability in balance. What’s it take to have 7 bpa more yield than the average and $21.26 less fertilizer at the same time? A focus on getting the right product at the right rate at the right time and the right placement(4Rs); instead of “what’s your fertilizer price?”. Meaning focusing just on the best price suppresses the opportunity to use management to increase yields and reduce costs at the same time. Miller Agronomy focuses on doing just the opposite through a foundation of soil tests and reviewing management options in detail routinely to strengthen your profitability.
